Understanding and supporting behaviour
Behavior Therapy
Supportive, individualised strategies that help children manage big feelings and challenging behaviour, and build positive, helpful behaviours for everyday life.

In plain language
Behaviour therapy uses structured, evidence-informed strategies to understand why a behaviour happens and to gently build more helpful behaviours in its place. At HEAL Child Development Centre, we focus on positive, respectful approaches — teaching skills, adjusting the environment and coaching families — so children can communicate their needs, manage emotions and take part more fully in daily life.
Areas we work on
- Understanding the needs behind a behaviour
- Building positive, helpful behaviours
- Emotional regulation and self-control
- Attention, cooperation and following routines
- Consistent strategies for home and school
What a session may involve
Sessions are one-to-one or in small groups, in a calm space. The therapist observes, sets positive goals with you, and teaches skills through encouragement and structured practice — never punishment.
- Positive-behaviour goal setting
- Skill-building through play and practice
- Emotion-recognition and calming strategies
- Routine and cooperation games
Working with your family
We coach parents and caregivers in simple, consistent strategies to use at home, because behaviour support works best when it is shared between the centre, home and school.
How we review progress
Progress is tracked against your child’s individual behaviour goals and reviewed with you regularly, in plain language.
